sutter county special education local plan area (selpa) MISSION

The Sutter County SELPA is committed to providing every student with a disability a high-quality educational program designed to meet individual needs in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), through a community of support, collaboration, shared resources, and a commitment to sound fiscal practices.
Sutter County SELPA supports and assists its 12 member districts and two charter schools as well as the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools, with their special education programs and services, enabling them to operate in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
 
The Sutter County SELPA is responisble for ensuring that every eligible child receives appropriate services. In addition to adminstrative support, the Sutter County SELPA helps its members comply with legal requirements concerning students with disabilities, and provides professional development activities to foster better relationships between schools and the families of special needs students.

Who We Are

The Sutter County Special Education Local Plan Area is comprised of 14 Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools Office. These entities work together to offer a free appropriate public education (FAPE) providing programs and services of high quality and the establishment and maintenance of policies that assure compliance with federal and state law.
